The APL (Association of Professional Landscapers) awards are held each year to recognise and reward the high standard of landscape contracting carried out by APL registered members. Awards are made in several categories based on value and the panel look for projects that show technical and horticultural excellence; which demonstrate disciplined construction methods; a quality finish whilst giving value for money; and where the landscaper has gone the extra mile to ensure complete customer satisfaction.
We are proud of our relationships with some excellent landscapers and were very excited that three projects designed by Coleby & Faulkner had been entered for awards by one of our preferred landscapers – Silva’s Gardens. All three entries were individually recognised and these were the results:
Project value under £20,000: Small Marlow Garden Highly Commended
Judges’ comment: “This project took a tired old unusable space and transformed it into a modern well balanced garden, whilst overcoming some very difficult access problems.”
Project value £20,000 – £30,000: Widbrook Farm Cottage Highly commended
Judges’ comment: A lovely use of materials both complementing and bringing together the surroundings with beautiful planting.”
Project value £100,000 – £250,000: Hunters Reach Commended
The site was steep with difficult access. The rear garden was re-landscaped with changes in levels with stabilised banks with topsoil. An amphitheatre was also created to the rear of the garden. The old swimming pool was repaved with granite and sleepers and beds were created. Paving and steps were built around the house. The front drive had granite paving with a shingle stabilised gravel drive to allow free drain. Beds were created along with a sleeper retaining wall. Judges comment: “A very competent and beautiful piece of work.”
