It’s been a wonderful adventure but it’s time to move on to a new one….
Jill and I have been very fortunate to have not just survived but flourished as a partnership for over 15 years, with lots of laughs and fun along the way as well as many challenges too. I’m immensely proud of the business we have built and the reputation that we now have in the industry and in the area, however for me there are new adventures waiting.
Over the last three years I have become passionate about doing what I can to help in the unfolding refugee crisis, which although no longer in the headlines, continues and will no doubt grow further as the climate crisis deepens. I was deeply affected by volunteering in both Calais and Greece and more recently visiting some of the Syrian refugee camps in Lebanon. Together with a group of like-minded people we founded Marlow Refugee Action which is now a registered charity. Over the past two years we have raised over £18k for partner charities that work on the front line both in this country and overseas; we also do talks in schools and with local community groups to raise awareness of the situation. With more time, I will continue to drive this forward and also be able to volunteer for longer periods, and of course I will have more time to spend in my own garden! For more information about the charity go to marlowrefugeeaction.org.uk
It’s a shame to be leaving Coleby & Faulkner while at its zenith! But I am so happy that Jill is driving the company forward with the support of the great team that we have built over the past 15 years (you know who you are!). We have a great portfolio of gardens and many wonderful new projects in the pipeline, I shall enjoy watching what comes next! Vanessa Faulkner June 2019
