Have just been back to visit a riverside garden we did in 2013. We did a dramatic border along the riverside planted in big blocks so that the layers of planting would be visible from both the house, garden and from the river.

Over the last winter the garden was under water for a couple of months and we were really worried about how the plants would survive with their roots in the water for so long.

But nature is an amazing thing and over the summer all the plants have not only comeback, but put on an extraordinary show – many of the plants at the back of the border are now above head height and standing beautifully tall and strong.

It’s not very often that we get to do such dramatic planting, but what a pleasure to see it make such a recovery!
